Error: Interface/FrameXML/TaretFrame.lua:291: attempt to index global `Turtle_ChallengesCache' (a nil value)
Description: This is a Lua error specific to character name plates for players who are affected by a challenge. When you scroll your mouse over a character on a challenge, this error will appear. The reason is that the game is trying to pull information from a corrupted ChallengesCache file and it cannot do so. Notice in the screenshots below how there is a difference in the information shown before and after resolving the error.
Attempts Taken to Fix: To fix this, I attempted to delete my WTF and WDB folders, turned every addon I installed on and off one by one, disabled each launcher tweak and mod one by one, and ran the game without any changes. I also completely reinstalled the game.
The Working Fix:
- Back up your WTF and AddOns folder.
- Delete all game files and reinstall OctoWoW. You do not need to reinstall the launcher as well, just the files in your "X:\...\OctoWoW" pathway".
- Start the game and quit. This will create all missing files and folders.
- Replace new existing WTF and AddOns folders with your backups.
