i agree with you on everything relevant except that shaman pvp set is worse for tanking. the 6 set bonus stam means the pvp helm pretty decent mit and the spell crit is just insane for sham tank, esp since they spec down the ele tree for spell crit dmg. if you are ever in a point where u need a sham tank to wear a set focused on defense and mit , you dont need a shaman tank.
also it was the right call to not give that helm to the hunter, 100% agree there
It's hard, the set bonuses from the PVP set definitely are nice, but from my memory and to be fair I am thinking back to progression on Turtle, Shamans really need to stack Stamina early on. The PVP helm isn't bad, and the set bonuses are good, but to get the set bonuses you need to wear the rest of the PVP gear and honestly the other pieces are pretty rough. There's some easy to get K10/ZG gear that are drastically better than the other PVP pieces, so I'd argue going for the 6pc set bonus is kind of gimping yourself tbh. But like fully, there's an argument to be made and I'm not dismissing what you're saying because there are definitely situations where the PVP set would be better, not every fight needs 100% mitigation etc etc but that helm is honestly like really really really good for Shamans early on. I legitimately don't think it would get replaced until T2.5, and as soon as you get better pieces to replace the rest of the PVP set you would really want it.
For example I played a Resto Shaman. I never tanked. Over time I built up a 100% really solid Tank set by rolling offspec after the other people who were actually going to be offtanking now and then got their pieces. I wanted the people who were going to be offtanking those pieces before me because it would help progression. I used my Tank gear quite a lot in PVP as well, so I was sort of in a similar situation as the OP. I do understand wanting to build an offspec set, especially a PVP set, but you can't do that at the expense of your guildies PVE sets imo. It's funny because thinking about all this, my guild doesn't actually have a hard rule set about this, and I think I might add it in. Like MS>OS>PVP lol. Because I genuinely love PVP and want people to be able to get PVP gear, but for example a DPS warrior building a tank offset so that he can help out when duty calls is just so much more important than a PVP set, and it's not like you won't *ever* get that gear for PVP.
Anyways I'm fucking rambling at this point, I just wanted to explain that I do get where OP is coming from and that I'm not just being a dismissive asshole. ( I'm only a dismissive asshole to Knifewench. )

however they didn't win the roll regardless of all the statements anyone would feel cheated there but, life moves on.
Yeah I do understand that the main point of the thread was to talk about the behavior, but I just felt like I needed to point out that not understanding what sparked the issue will lead to more conflict in the future. They legitimately shouldn't feel cheated in this situation, that's kind of my point. They should understand, and honestly even *want* the Shaman to have received it. I dunno, you need to care about the group if you're going to be in a guild. If you just want it to be like, everyone is out for themselves, I recommend just pugging tbh. And I'm not smoking dope and acting like we're all hippies and everyone is altruistic but if you're trying to take BIS *tank* gear as a Hunter you're 100% going to get shit on wherever you go. It's actually like a meme, right, Hunters rolling on fucking everything? It's a stereotype, and a really bad one. Like an extremely bad one. You don't want to be that guy. Or gal, apparently.
